GCL, as one of representative photovoltaic pacesetters, will atttend SNEC 12th (2018) International Photovoltaic Power Generation and Smart Energy Conference & Exhibition (SNEC PV Power Expo) from May 27 to 30, with 968 square meters of super-large booth at Hall E1 that is dedicated to the international brands of solar cell, system engineering and applications. It will focus on showcasing latest achievements covering its new integrated photovoltaic technologies and applications, smart energy industry chain, smart life, and photothermal cogeneration.

Among them, new exclusive revolutionary technologies of fluidized bed reactor (FBR) and continuous czochralski monosilicon (CCz), GCL’s model for poverty alleviation, and other three highlights are the most desirable.

The first highlight is the new exclusive technology combination of FBR and CCz debuting at this Expo.
GCL-Poly, an affiliated company to GCL, is the world's largest supplier of silicon materials and silicon wafers with the highest market share. It is also a major technology driver providing one quarter of silicon materials and one-third of silicon chips for the world annually. In 2017, the company produced approximately 75,000 tons of polysilicon and 24 GW silicon wafers.

At this SNEC PV Power Expo, GCL-Poly will, for the first time, display a new product combination of granular silicon and continuous monocrystal based on the R&D of FBR and CCz.

This new product combination, featuring better quality, more uniform resistivity and narrower distribution, is more suited to P-type PERC battery technology and more efficient N-type battery technology. As such, it is more conducive to the output of high-power components.

High-quality FBR-based granular silicon products can be used as the best materials for CCz. FBR and CCz complementing each other will become an alternative to RCz monocrystal products, current mainstream applications. GCL-Poly is now the world’s only company that owns both FBR and CCz technologies.

Relying on 11 years of mature experience in polysilicon manufacturing, GCL will also show its exploration and practice in the semiconductor industry chain through electronic polysilicon. After the third-party test, indicators of electronic polysilicon products have far exceeded national standards for Grade-I electronic products, producing perfect crystal pulling effects.
GCL semiconductor electronic polysilicon materials, semiconductor silicon wafers, and semiconductor equipment and auxiliary materials business, fill the national industrial gap, providing stable and high-quality raw materials for China's semiconductor industry.

The second highlight is a diversified industrial pattern and one-stop integrated services.

As a world-class manufacturer of crystalline silicon photovoltaic modules, GCL-SI under GCL is committed to building itself into a leading global system integrator for one-stop smart energy services.

This year, GCL-SI will present new high-efficiency products such as polycrystalline black silicon PERC, multi-busbar (MBB), single crystal PERC and high-efficiency mono-crystal and poly-crystal double-sided solar modules at SNEC exhibition. It has provided customized services for the global market under various application environments. It adopts GCL’s self-produced high-efficiency polycrystalline black silicon PERC cell whose efficiency reaches the highest standard of super leaders.

At the exhibition, GCL-SI sets up GCL Sunshine home system area, which will focus on displaying brand promotion results of GCL Sunshine to develop the distributed market further.
Also, the booth will independently open an exhibition area for the EPC PV Poverty Alleviation model, which will showcase achievements of EPC projects for poverty alleviation undertaken by GCL Integration in Anhui, Jiangxi, Henan, Guangxi, Shanxi and other provinces and cities in the past year. These projects have an accumulative generating capacity of over 700MW, demonstrating how GCL facilitates governments’ poverty alleviation projects with high-quality services and products.

The third highlight is the version 3.0 of PV Poverty Alleviation.

GCL New Energy explores the PV Poverty Alleviation model with the main body of photovoltaic agriculture driven by twin engines of capabilities of high-quality engineering construction and management and one-stop smart operation and maintenance. The two engines ensure timeliness and stability of poverty alleviation projects. Excellent capabilities of engineering construction and management ensure the timeliness and greatly guarantee the engineering quality of power plants. Smart regional operation and maintenance ensure the stability of projects and greatly reduce the operation and maintenance cost of per kilowatt-hour.

If it is considered that the version 1.0 of PV Poverty Alleviation power stations is just funding poverty-stricken families, then GCL's version 2.0 of combining PV Poverty Alleviation power stations with agriculture helps these families make their own fortunes. By this model, a poor household can get three incomes: policy subsidy, land rent, and labor wage.
The model of PV Poverty Alleviation will rely on industrial development to conduct poverty alleviation, drive the self-development of poverty-stricken areas, and build the version 3.0 of PV Poverty Alleviation, so as to help poverty-stricken areas to shake off poverty and get rich.
The version 3.0 of PV Poverty Alleviation model is to introduce leading agricultural enterprises to develop the agricultural products processing industry and warehousing and logistics industry, while developing the photovoltaic agriculture in poverty-stricken areas, so as to foster the integration development of the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries. Or the model needs to develop the photovoltaic materials processing industry to create an integrated photovoltaic industry.

PV Poverty Alleviation brings not only power stations as well as policy-oriented poverty alleviation funds to poverty-stricken areas but also new concepts, new skills, and new industries, injecting a strong impetus of sustainable development into rural areas.
Up to now, GCL has participated in the construction of PV Poverty Alleviation power stations with a generating capacity of 1,390 MW, representing No. 1 in the industry. These power stations can help lift 42,000 households out of poverty with a commitment of over 2.3 billion yuan of poverty alleviation funds within 20 years. GCL has revitalized beautiful countryside with its green energy industry.

The fourth highlight is GCL’s Smart Maintenance featuring one-stop operation of PV power stations.

The photovoltaic industry, as an emerging industry, has upgraded modules, inverters, and other products. Facing different types of equipment and numerous power plants, GCL has found that the traditional model for operation and maintenance is becoming more difficult to meet requirements of efficient operation and maintenance. The operation and maintenance services of GCL’s Smart Maintenance, driven by data, are addressing the weakness of this industry.

GCL’s Smart Maintenance combines hardware and software of the regional operation center and real-time production platform to, with a few or no persons on duty, conduct centralized monitoring, regional maintenance, and smart and professional operation and maintenance for photovoltaic power stations within a radius of 150-200 kilometers. The company has put into operation several regional operation centers, which will gradually cover the whole country.

In regional operation centers, GCL New Energy relies on the real-time production platform to conduct the data-driven operation, so as to realize the refined management of power stations. It can set up an expert database for equipment alarm to intelligently screen all kinds of alarms, quickly locate faults, give expert advice, and reduce the correcting time. It can also analyze the inefficient power generation unit and discrete rate to screen failure equipment and give an effective inspection program. It implements the closed-loop and benchmarking management.

The regional operation center in Zhongwei, Ningxia, as an example, reduced the power loss caused by equipment failure of power stations from 1.65 million kWh in 2016 to 0.61 million kWh in 2017 when the center was put into operation. The average recovery time of equipment failure has decreased to half of the original one, and the per capita operation capacity has nearly doubled that of the original single power station, achieving preliminary results.

The fifth highlight is GCL’s Wisdom against the backdrop of the energy revolution driven by the Internet plus smart energy.

GCL Intelligent Energy, under GCL, has been committed to clean energy production and comprehensive energy services. Its business mainly covers power generation from a wide range of sources including natural gas, wind, garbage, biomass, biogas, and geothermal energy.
